Project Description

Project standards development, integration and commissioning of PLC controllers from 35 different equipment manufacturers into a single SCADA system. The SCADA functionality included recipe management, plant-wide alarming, process historian and operator graphical interface. The system monitored and displayed key operational metrics, equipment status, recipe progress, batch lot tracking and provided a direct data connection to the client's ERP system for reporting purposes.

Programming and commissioning of PLC controls for the plant utility systems (HVAC, Waste Water Treatment and Chilled Water Plants), followed by integration into the SCADA platform was provided.

Client Challenge

Bring together the information from multiple vendors to provide an overall view of the plant operations. The information shall include production data and overall plant operations such as HVAC, Water and utilty usage. Data collection and presentation to allow for optimization of operations.

Create Standards for Automation systems and data collection that will then be used in subsequent projects for the client.

Develop project standards for information exchange between multiple PLC platforms with the SCADA system. Review standards, proposed graphics and alarm structure with the client. Gather as-built programming and graphics from each equipment vendor. Create interface maps to each PLC and generate and animate SCADA graphics. Perform on-site verification and equipment commissioning using SCADA system and data historian to capture data for verification of proper functions.
